Hello, We are LifeWay Adventures and our goal is to share our love of trails and trail racing, as well as all things outdoors, by providing quality, well organized events that spotlight our beautiful and diverse trail systems. WhelTrail Challenge

Come be a part of history! This will be the very first race on the new Lake Whelchel Trail! Our 10k is a perfect first trail race for those looking to see what the buzz is all about. Our 25k will be a great middle distance race for those wishing to push themselves a little further. Both distances offer varied terrain that is sure to challenge. Both distances will take place on our looped course that circles the picturesque Lake Whelchel, which is owned and operated by the Gaffney Board of Public Works. The Lake Whelchel Trail opened on June 29th, 2019 as part of the Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail which traces the route used by patriot militia during the Kings Mountain campaign of 1780. The Lake Whelchel Trail, part of the Carolina Thread Trail System, has become a very popular destination for running, hiking, mountain biking and sight seeing.

10k: Approximately 300 ft of vertical gain
Runners will make one loop on the 6.4 mile trail

10K Map

25K: Approximately 650 feet of vertical gain
Runners will make two loops on the 6.4 mile trail with an out and back each loop to get the 25K.

Aid Stations:

10K: There will be one (1) aid station for the 10K located at the 3.7 mile distance. This aid station will
will have a minimum of water, Gatorade.

25K: There will be Three (3) aid stations for the 25K located at the following distances.
3.7 miles – minimum of water and Gatorade
7.4 miles – water, Gatorade, assorted soft drinks, pretzels, trail mix, PB&J sandwiches,etc…
12.0 miles – minimum of water and Gatorade

All entrants will receive a custom t-shirt and a variety of cool gear
All finishers will receive a custom finishers medal. 1st and 2nd place male and female in both distances will receive a custom award.

Crowders Ridgeline Ruckus

Are you ready for great views and challenging trails? If so, Crowders Ridgeline Ruckus is for you. Our 10k is a perfect first trail race for those looking to see what the buzz is all about. Our 25k will be a great middle distance race with increased elevation for those wishing to push themselves a little further. Both distances offer varied terrain and climbs that are sure to challenge. The race is permitted by the State of North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources Division of Parks and Recreation.

Both courses are modified out and backs. 

10k: Approximately 1100 feet of vertical gain
Approximately 2200 feet of elevation change
Course consists of 4.6 miles of single-track trail and 1.6 miles of old gravel road bed

25K: Approximately 3000 feet of vertical gain
Approximately 6000 feet of elevation change
Course consists of 13.6 miles of single-track trail and 1.6 miles of old gravel road bed
